Sciatica (Gridhrasi)

It is a condition characterized by pain radiating along the Sciatica nerve which begins from Sphika (Hip) region and gradually radiates down to Kadi (Back), Uru (Thigh), Janu (Knee), Jangha (Calf) and finally to Paada (foot) region. This condition is mainly caused due to trauma or injury on spine, disc herniation compressing one of the Lumbar or Sacral nerve roots. They may also experience weakness or numbness on the affected leg and foot.

According to ayurveda it is considered as one of the Nanatmaja Vikara (Vata dosha) mainly affect Vyana, Apana, Samana vata.

Treatment :- Jamperapindaswedanam (Naranga kizhi) provides muscles relaxation, Kadivasthi reduces inflammation in lower back region, Swedanam (Stem bath), Njavara kizhi and Pizhichil gives immediate action on site and strengthen the muscles, Matra Basti (to correct the vata dosha and also to subside inflammation also) along with Manual spine correction done by experienced doctors.

IVDP (Intervertebral Disc Prolapse)/Kadi Graha

A prolapsed (herniated) disc occurs when there is a tear in the outer fibrosus ring (annulus fibrosus) of the intervertebral disc gets injured and the soft material (nucleus pulposus) ruptures out compressing either the nerve roots or spinal cord. In this condition person may experience numbness, pins and needles or tingling in one or both arms or legs. In severe cases, loss of control of bladder or bowels, numbness in the genital area.

Spondylolisthesis and Spondylolysis

Spondylolisthesis causes one of the lower vertebrae to slip forward on to the bone directly beneath it. Spondylolysis defect or stress fracture in the pars interarticularis of the vertebral arch. Both conditions can cause lower back pain radiating into the buttocks or legs.

Osteoarthritis (Sandhigata vata)

Arthritis means inflammation of the joints, among this Osteoarthritis is the most common which mainly affect the elderly people. There will be degeneration of the joint cartilage and underlying bone which causes pain and stiffness. Diabetes and hypothyroidism can also trigger the condition.

Person may experience sandhi shotha (swelling over joints), Sandhi Shoola (pain in the joints), Sandhi Graha (stiffness in joints) and Sandhi Sphutna (crepitus)

Treatment :- Abhyanga with Naranga kizhi, Swedana, Dhanyamla Dhara or localized dhara, Medicated lepam application, Pindaswedanam, Sneha vasthi.

Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis)/ Snayugata Vata

Lateral Epicondylitis occurs more frequently in the dominant extremity during middle life. It is usually a painful condition that occurs when the tendon located in the elbow joint become injured generally due to repetitive movements of the arms and wrists and also due to any stress. As the name mentioned it is not just restricted to the athletes but it can also occurs in a wide range of individuals including painters, carpenters, plumbers and butchers.

Person may experience difficulty in the movement of the wrist and forearm, Persistent pain in the elbows, Difficult while lifting heavy objects, twisting the arms or stretching the hand.

According to Ayurveda in this condition vata dosha is aggravated and this aggravated vata accumulates in the snayu (Tendon) of Kurpara Sandhi (Elbow Joint)

Treatment :- Jamperapindaswedanam (Naranga kizhi), Swedanam (Stem bath), Thaila Dhara (pouring of medicated oil), Bandage with either medicated Lepam or oil.

Golfer’s Elbow (Medial Epicondylitis)/ Snayugata Vata

Medial Epicondylitis is a common condition affecting the medial (or inside) aspect of the elbow. Pain might spread into forearm and wrist. It is common less than tennis elbow. The injury is related to excess or repeated stress – especially forceful wrist and finger movements. Improper lifting, throwing or hitting can contribute to golfer’s elbow.

Person may experience pain and tenderness, stiffness of elbow joint, weakness of hand, Numbness and tingling sensation on fingers especially on ring and little fingers.

According to Ayurveda in this condition vata dosha is aggravated and this aggravated vata accumulates in the snayu (Tendon) of Kurpara Sandhi (Elbow Joint)

Treatment :- Jamperapindaswedanam (Naranga kizhi), Swedanam (Stem bath), Thaila Dhara (pouring of medicated oil), Bandage with either medicated Lepam or oil.

Frozen Shoulder (Apabahuka)

It is a condition that affects the shoulder joint characterized by stiffness and pain. It is more common in women than men over 40 years of age and also in people with diabetics.

Person may experience pain and stiffness of shoulder joint with limited movements of hand. Dull or aching pain especially during night time. The commonest cause for such condition is due to either injury or surgery of shoulder joint which lead to prolonged immobility of hand .stroke and diabetics also worsen the condition.

According to ayurveda Apabahuka is considered as vataja vikara associated with kapha dosha. This manifest depletion of dhatu kshaya which lead to amsa shoha.

Treatment :- Snehana karma (Abhyanga with Naranga kizhi), Shirobasthi Swedanam, Nasyam and prescribed exercise.

 

Rheumatoid Arthritis (Amavata)

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)/ Artava Kshaya

PCOS is the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age. It is a condition that has cysts on the ovaries that prevent the ovaries from performing normally. Main causative factors are lack of exercise, modern life style and food habits, and hypothyroidism.

Symptoms :- Amenorrhea or Infrequent Menstruation with painful, Irregular bleeding, Immature follicles, Increased levels of male hormones, Thinning of hair, Excess growth of facial and body hair (Hirsutism), Acne, Oily skin, Dark colored patches on skin especially on neck, Underarms, groin region, Increased weight or obesity, chronic pelvic pain, Diabetics, High blood pressure, Infertility.

According to Ayurveda Artava Kshaya is a disorder involving pitta and kapha doshas, medas, Rasa-Rakta-Artava vaha srotas and Rasa, shukra/Artava dhatus. This can be managed by giving oral medications along with treatments like Udwarthanam (to reduce body fat), Utharavasthi (helps to purify and clears the arthava vaha srotas and vitiated apana vayu and at last we give a special product (Lehyam) to correct hormone variations which is prepared from our on manufacturing unit.

PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disorder)

PID is an infection of female reproductive organ it usually occurs either due to sexually transmitted infection, recurrent urinary infection or even due to warm infestations enters the vagina and spread to uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries. Initially these infections does not cause any signs or symptoms later on it will aggravate by chronic pelvic pain.

Symptoms :- Pain in the lower abdomen and pelvis, Heavy vaginal discharge with an unpleasant odor, Pain or bleeding during sexual inter course, Painful or difficult
